The Fall Virtual Networking Series is a 3-month virtual networking event focused on creating meaningful relationship-building and community-building opportunities across the Canadian touring performing arts sector. Replacing the organization’s long-standing regional conference, I worked with the Programs Director and Programs associate to articulate a visual brand identity system that engages audiences new and familiar and to guide the design of the event marketing collateral.

Given that the Fall Virtual Networking Series was the first event of its kind, we created a combined wordmark featuring the Ontario Presents wordmarkand the stacked wordmark for the event to build immediate recognition for our inaugural event and its relationship to Ontario Presents. We also created a circular network vector to visually illustrate our intention for the Fall Virtual Networking Series— to create connections between the overlapping microcosms of the Canadian touring performing arts.

Red Hat Display Bold was selected as our replacement for the brand’s header typeface Raleway, as we aimed to preserve the friendly rounded sans serif look while maximizing legibility with a consistent type figure height. Roboto Regular was selected as our typeface for digital applications including social media collateral and email marketing collateral while Noto Sans Regular was chosen as our typeface for long-form applications including our event programme.

We opted for an analogous colour scheme featuring various shades of blue, building upon existing colour associations with the Ontario Presents brand. We included shades of cyan and navy to contrast against the brand’s medium blue in a liquid gradient and to ensure that all content promoting the Fall Virtual Networking Series stood out against the solid blue content featured in our social media feeds.
