"Home is not a place, it's a feeling". The Dorma, a small cottage design situated on a contoured site, measures approximately 4,000 square feet in size. The site is located in Stockton-On-Tees, UK, and is a very compact residential building that blends in with the surrounding environment by keeping the existing trees and adding new ones, offering a versatile environment that adapts to the changing needs of the household.

The integrating spaces between the house and the backyard Contoured garden is the main focal point. Since it already has existing trees, which are retained as it is, and we are adding new trees alongside, it further acts as a dynamic space that seamlessly integrates the private area (bedrooms on the first floor) with the garden.

The compact house design is the Gwendolyn, which is categorized as an American Craftsman-style home. Key elements of design include such as low-pitched gable(triangular)roofs, Dormer windows, overhanging eaves with exposed rafters and beams, patterned window panes and a covered front porch.

The ground floor area serves as a semi-private Zone encompassing the living, kitchen and dining space. Whereas on the first floor, there are bedrooms, a totally private zone designed according to the needs of the occupants.

This traditional yet modern approach to the design not only emphasizes ecological responsibility but also enhances the livability and versatility of the home, which ensures that the space is functional and enjoyable to the person living in it.
