Portraits of my brother, Aidan; May 2021.
This photoshoot served as graduation or senior photos for my brother, who graduated this June 2021 from high school. Aidan, like myself, is a total goofball so this shoot had its unique challenges when it came to posing him and getting him to relax to make the photos as natural as possible. It turned out to be a really great time as we walked around the empty campus of Durham School of the Arts, my alma mater. Aidan will be joining me at NC State University this fall as I complete my final semester and he has his first! I'm super excited but don't tell him I said that. 😉

Reflections on my Past Experiences:

Tradeshoot - Model: Julianne Herring; May 2021.
Tradeshoot - Model: Julianne Herring; May 2021.
This photoshoot was a tradeshoot organized between my friend Maddy Giles (of Gadabout Media) and Julianne Herring - a local model whom we had mutual friends with. I tagged along with my camera primarily as moral support to Maddy and to get the chance to socialize. Julianne's modeling experience made it easy to get many great shots as she knew how to pose, so it was a very creative shoot playing with props and the lighting as the sun set on us at Dorthea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC. It was awesome to talk with Julianne about her experiences modeling and working with other creatives.

This photoshoot was a personal "gift" my friend Maddy Giles and I did for our friends in honor of getting their white coats at Duke University's Medical School in Durham, NC. It was one of my first portrait photoshoots but I had a great time trying out different poses in various locations around Duke's campus. It was great getting to do this for them, as the original ceremony had been cancelled due to COVID-19.

NC State UAB T-Pain Concert; Oct. 2019.
The T-Pain concert above was my first ever professional photo shoot. I had just been hired with NC State's RED-i as the social media manager, but, due to the size of this event, anyone on the team who knew how to use a camera was assigned to shoot this event. Needless to say, I was intimidated. I was handed a Canon 5D, a backstage pass, and control over what types of photos I could take. Despite my initial anxiety going into the event, I had a really great time and was super proud of the shots I got! This event also gave me the chance to practice editing using Adobe Lightroom, which was a software I had never used before.

NC State Club Sailing Team; 2018-2019.
Shooting for the NC State Sailing Team was the first time I got into photography more seriously since I was a kid. I always had an interest in photography growing up, borrowing my parents' DSLR when I could, but the desire to pick up a camera came in waves. Taking photos for the Sailing Team was my first time shooting with the desire to create digital marketing materials. Many of the photos shown above were used by myself to promote the culture of the team and to get engagement from individuals who knew our sailors.
