Interactions 🐳

Dani Medellín

I found this article (Bones, Bones: How to Articulate a Whale- by Peter Wayne Moe,Longreads) which explain how a deceased beached whale ends in a museum. But more about it, what was interesting for me was the interaction that different people had with the whale until is displayed in the museum.
I illustrated three of those interactions: Birthday Walk, Bones and Translation.
Birthday Walk
The whale was found by a family who were walking by the beach, they were celebrating the birthday of one of the girls. This moment got my attention because it represents, in a way, the begin and end of the cycle of life.
Bones
“I have sat inside her rib cage. And yet I know nothing about her.”-Ellie Loran, one of the student's author.
The quote which inspired the whole illustration.
Translation
Each bone tells a story; each bone means something. Translation, is the process of building the whale, how they have to create it again, translate the process to words.
