BLinc and WIB (Women In Business) recently hosted Lunch and Learn moderated by Victoria Nguyen and Sydney Smith to discuss women's social issues. Women in Business is an undergraduate student organization that focuses on the professional and personal development of women to enhance their experiences through building community and providing opportunity.
During the event, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a Kahoot with trivia questions about the Women's Suffrage Movement and U.S Government in addition to winning amazing prizes; BLinc blankets and a WIB beanies. In addition to prizes and trivia, attendees were also treated to lunch courtesy of Cafe Rio
This year's Women's History Month theme is “celebrating women who tell our stories.” Some very important and influential women who left an incredible legacy are Toni MorisonMaya AngelouMaxine Hong KingstonMarjory Stoneman Douglas, and Gloria Steinem, this is just a very short list of women whose stories were not only relevant but also impactful. As your business student government, we encourage and support all women from the past, present, and future. We want to acknowledge their struggles, but also build toward the future and recognize those who have committed their lives to helping others around them time and time again.
As part of our continued mission to support equal and equitable opportunities for all, here is a list of resources throughout the University of Utah and Salt Lake Valley provided by Women in Business:
Women's Resource Center at the U: The Women's Center at the U offers resources in academics, leadership roles, healthcare and much more.
Rape Recovery Center: The Rape Recovery Center is an amazing resource for therapy, advocacy, and emergency situations regarding sexual violence.
