Membership-Driven Checkout Logic for Shopify

A custom flow that checks login status, membership tags, and applies the right benefits before letting customers checkout. This system helps stores push memberships naturally while keeping the buying process smooth.

Step 1. Customer Adds a Product and Goes to Cart

The flow starts in the cart. Once the customer adds an item and clicks Checkout, the system triggers a full logic check before they move forward.

Step 2. Login Status Check

If the customer is not logged in, a prompt appears asking them to log in or create an account. This ensures the system can identify the shopper and read their tags.

Step 3. Membership Verification

After logging in, the system checks their customer tags to confirm if they are a paid member. The tags come from Shopify’s admin segments, making the check fast and reliable.

Step 4. Apply Member Discount

If they are a member, the system applies the correct discount based on the segment settings and lets them continue to checkout without friction.

Step 5. Non-Member Prompt

If they are not a member, a modal appears encouraging them to purchase the membership. This is the main conversion point to increase membership sales.

Step 6. Add Membership to Cart

When the customer chooses to become a member, the membership product is automatically added to the cart. The customer can then move forward with checkout and enjoy their new benefits.
