A fashion editorial book design paid pitch for GLATAM, exploring the visual direction and structure of a fashion and culture-focused print magazine with a distinctly Latin American perspective.
The concept brings together fashion editorials, interviews, culture, lifestyle, travel and product stories through a flexible, image-led editorial system.
Editorial opening spread - introducing the story through bold imagery and layered typography.
Overview
GLATAM approached me to explore the design direction for their first print publication Coffee Table Book centred around fashion, culture and lifestyle across Latin America.
The proposed issue brought together a diverse mix of content - from fashion editorials and interviews with emerging creative talent to cultural articles, a guide to Venezuela, lookbooks and conceptual product shoots.
Challenge
The challenge was to create a visual language that could hold all these different formats together without making the publication feel overly rigid or formulaic.
Solution
I developed an editorial direction built around strong imagery, expressive typography, generous use of space and flexible compositions, allowing each story to have its own visual character while remaining part of a cohesive editorial system.
Interview feature - combining portraiture, editorial text and expressive typography.
Introducing the collections - Contents spread
Designers and countries narrative - using immersive imagery and an open layout to create a sense of place.
Profile feature - a minimal editorial composition balancing portraiture, text and negative space.
Beauty & fashion feature - pairing strong photography with a clean, flexible editorial structure.
