This project came out of nowhere. As a huge LA Kings fan hockey is my favorite sport. When I heard the NHL was expanding into Seattle my mind raced wondering what the new team name would be. While I was browsing reddit one day I saw a variety of names being thrown around, but one in particular tickled my funny bone. The Rain City Bitch Pigeons. It was utterly ridiculous, but my creative juices were flowing and I just had to mock up a logo/branding concept for this new team.

Before I knew it I had a full brand idea for this ridiculous fictional team. I tried to picture how a tough looking pigeon would be presented if it was given the sports logo treatment and this is what I settled on. I shared my concept to reddit and thought nothing of it. That is, until the post received upwards of 12,000 upvotes. People seemed to truly respond to the concept despite its ridiculous origins so I put the wheels in motion to create merch for the design. I was then approached by Envious Gamewear to create actual jerseys of the design and I couldn’t say no.

In the end the partnership was a great success and we sold a ton of RCBP hockey jerseys. It was a really awesome project to work on and since then I’ve had a lot of fun working on other potential sports branding projects.
