Highland Ministries | 2 section Website Redesign & Digital Experience

Client: Highland Ministries – a faith-based non-profit focused on youth camps, father-child retreats, student discipleship and family initiatives. My role: Lead Website Designer / Developer (specialising in Framer & conversion-optimised builds) Tools & stack: Framer (design + build), & responsive design.

Project Overview

Highland Ministries came to you with a mission-driven organisation that needed a digital presence matching the depth of its real-world impact. Their existing website was dated, lacked clarity in navigation, and did not convey the full breadth of their programs (summer camps, family initiatives, retreats, discipleship). The goal was to create a fresh, modern, responsive website that clearly communicated their mission (“Building Leaders. Strengthening Families. Engaging the Heart.”) and drove key conversions (donations, program registrations, volunteer sign-ups).

The Problem

The website’s structure did not effectively segment the different arms of the ministry (camp, father/child, student, family).
Visual design and branding were inconsistent, undermining the emotional and professional credibility of the organisation.
User journeys (from visiting site → engaging → converting) were unclear: visitors weren’t guided to donate, join a program or learn more.
Mobile/responsive performance issues: many users accessing from mobile devices were seeing poor usability.
Analytics and tracking were either missing or minimal, making it hard for the team to measure website performance or audience behaviour.

My Approach

Discovery & strategy
Conducted a stakeholder workshop with the Highland Ministries team: defined audience personas (camp families, student disciples, fathers+kids, donors).
Audited existing site analytics (where available) and competitor/non-profit sites to benchmark.
Design & build
Developed a brand-aligned visual concept: strong hero imagery, mountain/back-to-nature aesthetic (echoing the camp/retreat feel), consistent typographic hierarchy and colour palette.
Created a simplified site architecture: Home → About → Programs (Camp, Father/Child, Student, Family) Contact.
Built high-fidelity design prototypes in Framer, with a mobile-first mindset.
Integrated third-party tools: Donation button (Kindful or similar) prominently placed; clear CTA buttons for each audience segment; seamless navigation.
Testing & launch
Conducted user-testing sessions (3–5 sessions) with representative users (parents, students, prospective donors) and iterated design based on feedback: improved readability, clarified CTAs, reorganised program sections.
Optimised performance: images compressed, lazy-loading implemented.
Ensured full responsiveness across devices and major browsers.

Deliverables

Full website design in Framer: ~1 pages
Custom components: Hero banner with image slider, Program cards.
Analytics dashboard set-up: key metrics tracked
Launch checklist & handover document: how to update content, how to review metrics, maintenance suggestions.

Results / Impact

Within first 4 weeks of launch, donation button clicks increased.
Client feedback: “We now have a website that acts as an ambassador for our mission, we can clearly direct parents, students and donors to exactly what they need.”

What the client had to say

Emmanuel was incredible to work with. He worked incredibly hard to make sure we were fully satisfied with the final product, going above and beyond often. Highly recommend!
