Context

Thanks to my meditation and mindfulness practice and after attending an 11 days silent Vipassana retreat, I started to observe several patterns and personal behaviors when facing tasking situation. In general tasking applications, lead the user to generate an important amount of lists and sub-lists along with reminders, quantitative statistics related to success in completing or failing a task which could be overwhelming for the user. This app aimed at reducing the quantitative aspect while focusing on the quality of the experience that is planned and recorded.

Design process

A competitor analysis helped to understand what the current trends were for both meditation and tasking apps. Interviews with people that practice meditation and that have a busy life were made in order to find out which problems they were facing. It appeared that some users were looking for less formal tasking apps while also looking for ways of reducing the stressful task reminder notification. The app had consequently to offer audio recorded mindfulness programs and a way of combining meditation with tasking features. Prototyping was done roughly with a pen and paper at first and with Photoshop on a second stage.
Early version of the wireframes which later versions were handed off to developers.

Deliverable

For this task an interactive prototype was created, wireframes with rationals for hand off, archive of assets and deliverable, original meditation scripts, original recordings and edits, a landing page and several blog articles to present the product and the concept. The meditation scripts were audited by an accredited Mindfulness teacher.
