Overview 🔎

Cooking food for loved ones is my love language. I used my writing skills to create a cookbook, Two Peas in a Pod, as a gift for my partner. I never fail to make a pun, so even the title is a cheeky nod to the audience it was intended for because it rhymes with the names "Abbey and Aud". As an author, my main focus is capturing the voice the audience wants to hear in a piece and setting the reader up for engagement. This cookbook has a combination of creative and technical writing. Each recipe contains detailed instructions, helpful cooking tips, and personal memories that make the recipes so special.

Problem & Solution 🤝

My partner and I loved cooking together but hated using tech to access recipes. Lengthy blog recipes, pop-up ads, and the device going to sleep made following directions hard. As a gift, I compiled a book of 24 favorite recipes that we continue to add to as we try new things.

Process 🛣

I included 6 categories of food including breakfasts, soups, Mexican food, pizzas, pasta, and desserts. I wrote detailed instructions to illustrate the required technique.

Results 🎁

This personal project created a meaningful way to create memories through food. Audrey and her partner continue to try new foods and add recipes to the book.

Takeaways 📣

I learned how to make a visually appealing cookbook by reading books that I loved. I appreciate that I saved a basic template for the recipes which makes it easier to create new pages.

In the future, I would make the template into an interactive PDF version with clickable links in the table of contents.
