Overview
Bookini is a hotel management platform I designed and built from the ground up. It lets a hotel run its whole operation, arrivals, rooms, housekeeping, finance, from a single dashboard, and pick ready-to-use templates that fit how they actually work. The goal was never "more features." It was a system a front-desk team could open on day one and just use.
Everything, live. Nothing buried.
The Tension
Hotel software forces a bad trade. On one side, legacy PMS systems — powerful, but so dense they need a week of training and a manual nobody reads. On the other, pretty dashboards that look great in a demo and collapse the moment a real Tuesday hits: a walk-in, three delayed check-outs, a room flagged for maintenance, a payment that didn't clear. Staff don't need more screens. They need one that thinks the way the floor moves.
A walk-in, three delays, one screen.
The Decision
I designed operations-first, not aesthetics-first. Every screen starts from the question a manager is actually asking — what needs my attention right now? — and answers it before anything else. Real-time by default: occupancy, arrivals, payments, housekeeping, all updating live. Status colors do the heavy lifting so attention lands without reading. And the whole thing is modular and template-driven, so a 20-room boutique and a 300-room resort run the same system at different weights.
The System
One command center, then a set of modules that each own a job:
Overview — occupancy rate, arrivals, departures, room status, and priority alerts on one screen, so decisions happen fast.
Rooms & Inventory — rooms by category, floor, and status (available, occupied, cleaning, maintenance).
Reception & Client Flow — check-in, check-out, walk-ins, delays, and client records with clear status tracking.
Housekeeping & Maintenance — visual room status per floor to optimize cleaning and repair routes.
Services & Concierge — build services like breakfast, spa, transport, or tours, set pricing, and track the extra revenue.
Analytics — bookings, stay duration, cancellation rate, a room-occupancy matrix, and channel distribution.
Holding it together: a status-color language that guides the eye instantly, a strict visual hierarchy that reduces cognitive load, and a template system that keeps every hotel on the same rails.
Status colors do the reading for you.
The Impact
Bookini is a complete hotel operating system — it centralizes management, sharpens efficiency, and gives a hotel full control of its operations from a single, intuitive dashboard. Designed and developed end to end: UX, UI, and a modular, scalable, template-driven front end built for real daily use, not demo day.
The Takeaway
Operations first. The polish earns its place after.
The Client wanted exactly this design and approved to its development
