In the summer of 2021 the marketing team was coming up with promos involving the UX/UI teams to bring customers into stores.
Different promos were submitted to be displayed onto stores to increase sales.
My Role
I personally volunteered to design a promo involving some products that were heavy sellers.
Research Method
I decided to pick summer items that were popular. Two very popular items were M&M's candy and Coke cans.
I gathered data on products that were selling higher than other in the summer of 2021.
I decided to keep a simple approach basing it off other promos ran before that the company saw an uptick in sales.
Decided that a simple promo with simple color scheme, easy to read and understand, with large product displays always increased sales.
Results
Picking popular items attracted customers to stores. The sales of the items were already high but attracting customers with the items increased sales of the nearby items also.
Original Product sales went up 43% along with a 5% boost to the mainstream product.
Personal Analysis/Feedback
This was the first marketing promo that I personally designed.
I realized that a simple scheme works best because customers usually do not spend too long reading promos.
A simple nice message with a color scheme that stands out in the summer months attracts customer to come inside the store.
Not overcrowding marketing promos with too many colors, words, products work best because usually people will quickly glance at these and not spend much time.
To grab a customer within that couple seconds glance is how you attract customers and increase sales.
