A 6.5-minute lore video exploring the origin and psychology behind Silent Hill's Pyramid Head, built for a faceless storytelling channel.
Opening hook (0:00–0:38): the narration leads, with fire, silhouette, and key art reveals building to "It just is." Captions burned in for this preview; the original uses optional CC.
The challenge most of the visuals are dark, slow game footage. The edit had to hold attention through the narration alone, building dread without relying on fast cuts.
Opening: red-lit silhouette to set the tone in the first seconds.
Slow holds on wide shots let the narration breathe.
My approach
Pacing around the voiceover: cuts, holds, and silences are timed to the narration so key lines land with weight.
Chapter structure: title cards (Origin, Psyche, Beyond) split the video into clear acts.
Animated typography: book quotes and sources appear as motion text, which adds credibility and keeps the screen alive.
Visual explainers: Freud's superego and iceberg diagrams illustrate the theory instead of just narrating it.
Sound design: an ambient score, low-end hits, and fades to silence carry the atmosphere.
Chapter title cards structure the video into acts.
Source quotes animated as motion text.
Chapter 1 (1:46–2:21): a chapter title card, the book quote animated as motion text, and the source citation, all timed to the voiceover.
Visual explainer for Freud's iceberg model.
Key art reveal timed to the narration's emphasis.
Closing beat: slow push toward the painting
