Channel 5 used to be open to watch without an account until a few months ago. Before finally implementing mandatory registration, they looked into ways of enticing their viewers to register for a free (optional) account.
The viewer lands on the homepage. They are not registered.
2. Preferences selection. Clients are prompted to select their viewing preferences.
3. The viewer is prompted to sign up.
4. The viewer clicks on 'Create Account' and starts filling out the registration form.
5. The account has been created.
6. The user's homepage is now showing content tailored to their interests and viewing habits.
7. Stop Content - Registration Popup. The viewer chose not to create an account. They start watching a show and after a while, they are prompted once more to sign up, by showing them the perks they would have by doing so.
8. Exit intent pop-up. The viewer wants to close the page at which point they are shown other shows in the same category or given the option to browse all popular shows.
