Client: Fargo Brewing Company
Role: Motion Designer
Tools: Blender, Photoshop, After Effects
Deliverables: Social header still and website loop animation
Project Overview
Fargo Brewing wanted their new can designs to come to life online. The goal was to create a simple, seamless loop that could play quietly in the background while still feeling alive and intentional. The animation needed to fit the clean, straightforward tone of the brand while adding a sense of craft and personality.
Concept & Approach
The cans were already strong visually, so the focus was on motion and rhythm. I designed a looping shot where the cans roll into frame, pause in a clean layout, then roll off again. It’s simple, but the timing and realism make it satisfying to watch. The animation had to feel effortless, almost meditative, with no visible start or end point.
Look Development
I treated the lighting like product photography in motion. The setup was soft, even, and minimal, giving each can space to show off its design. Small details, like surface variation and reflections, added realism without clutter. I wanted the scene to feel familiar and tactile, like a tabletop setup lit by natural light.
Motion & Craft
The movement was animated by hand to keep it organic. Each roll and slide was adjusted by feel rather than physics, which gave the animation a sense of weight and personality. The loop hides its reset in motion blur, so the cycle can play endlessly without breaking the illusion.
Render & Finish
Rendered in Cycles, the scene used real-world lighting and camera depth to push the photo-real look. I added a bit of film grain and vignette in compositing to make it feel less digital and more like a real camera capture.
Outcome
The final still became Fargo Brewing’s social header image, and the looped animation was used on their website. It gave their digital presence a subtle, dynamic touch while staying true to the simplicity of the brand.
