Made-to-Measure Suit Rentals Business

Back in 2016, there was an evident growing shift in the Indian Retail scape. The purchasing power and incoming was seemingly growing, while it was also common for people from across India, to be based in Bangalore, owing to it's moniker as the Silicon Valley in India which resulted in people from all across making their way to the city

On a retail interaction level, we were requested more than a few times to also have a cost-effective solution for people wanting to wear suits "just the once", and they usually had their suits in their home base and were looking for a suit now just for an interview or perhaps a wedding they had to attend locally.

Our retail store formats were not geared to meet this demand, and could not justify our product below a certain price point. Rentals were the only other option they had - and Rentals were in a very sorry state back then

There were few independent brands that would buy used or surplus clothing lot, and then give them out on rent while others went around the used clothing model to offer this. It struck me, that clothing rental had never enjoyed a legitimate status socially in India, as it was almost often associated with ill-fitting suits, dirty or uncared for suits, or looking like a desperate last minute borrowed job - which earned to validity from anyone

This led me to put together our Suit Rental Business (formerly called Suit Fullstop back then) which turned in Fabstyle Central around 2018-19. The premise was very simple - give great fitting suits for rent which are made-to-measure for each client, each suit was drycleaned after each wear, i created a high-level size matrix of optimum designs per shade, per colour to be made available, to ensure we always had stock for the popular designs too.

We further increased the offering of this brand in to Value for Money clothing to buy (apart from Rentals) and Corporate, Instituitonal and Hospitality industry bulk clothing and uniform requirements. It has been a few years, we've ridden past the pandemic era, and just after the offering had a new lease - Rentals like we do at Fabstyle, which are clean, fitted and exude the sartorial grace which any suit should reflect were all there, with a great way for people to view the catalog online, and come offline as a one-time thing to get their measurements so they could continue renting from there on.

The branding and identity for Fabstyle was kept Bright and Fresh - and even an element of playfulness. This was to take away the heaviness and pre-conceived notions around Rentals which existed back then, and it might have actually worked, as we have always attracted clients who love what we offer, find it easy to refer and recall us, and also become our brand ambassadors which is invaluable as far as patronage goes.

Fabstyle Central continues serving the mass clientele even today, offering them a step up from the neglected space of budget retail, where human touch, interaction quality and output preferences are usually shunned in favour of the cheapest pricing and lacklustre quality. All of which Fabstyle Central fills with ease, as that is it's raison d'être
