Rabat Urban Regeneration Strategy

Overview This urban intervention proposes a regeneration strategy for a district in Rabat, transforming a strategic 4.4-hectare site into a vibrant, connected, and inclusive urban node. The project reimagines circulation, green infrastructure, and mixed-use programming to serve both existing communities and future urban growth.
Design Process The design began with a thorough spatial and morphological analysis, identifying key axes, desire lines, and urban voids. From this, a parametric framework was developed using Grasshopper to generate block configurations based on access, visibility, solar orientation, and programmatic needs.
Points of convergence guided street extensions and public space distribution.
Green networks and shading strategies were introduced to counteract the district’s heat island effect.
Volumetric massing was derived from site logic, intersection density, and intended program intensity.
Program & Strategy The proposed master plan includes:
A cultural hub anchoring the southeast edge, integrating a mediatheque and performance center.
A residential cluster combining social and student housing, designed for modularity and passive performance.
A commercial and mobility core near the tram stop, with retail, coworking, and a transit-oriented plaza.
Linear green corridors reconnecting fragmented public spaces and creating shaded pedestrian networks.
AI-assisted urban scripting to test spatial adaptability and sun exposure in early design stages.
Visual Identity The presentation combines analytical diagrams, Grasshopper scripts, and photorealistic perspectives to communicate both logic and lived experience. Zoomed-in renderings offer views into key public spaces—shared courtyards, active edges, and gathering areas—emphasizing walkability and human scale.
Impact & Intent The project aims to set a replicable framework for contextual urban densification in Moroccan cities, integrating parametric tools with social and climatic responsiveness. It's a vision for a more connected, sustainable district.
