Project Overview:
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation (AMF) sought to enhance its eSmart Schools program by developing the eSmart Self-Assessment Tool (eSAT). This tool was designed to serve as a baseline assessment for schools embarking on the eSmart journey, enabling them to identify key areas for improvement. The success of the eSAT hinged on creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface for both educators with editing access and those with viewing access.
Scope:
Refinement of user journeys for educators interacting with the eSAT.
Designed wireframes and a high-fidelity, clickable prototype in Figma.
Conducted remote usability testing sessions with educators.
Ensured compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA requirements to make the design accessible and inclusive to all users.
Finalised the prototype and delivery of comprehensive handover documentation to the development team.
Methodology:
User Journey Refinement: Analysed and refined the workflows for educators to ensure intuitive navigation and task completion within the eSAT.
Wireframing and Prototyping: Developed wireframes and an interactive prototype using Figma, ensuring alignment with the eSmart Schools portal and AMF’s brand guidelines.
Usability Testing: Facilitated remote testing sessions with selected educators to gather feedback on the prototype’s usability and functionality.
Design Iterations: Conducted up to three rounds of revisions based on usability testing feedback to refine the prototype.
Accessibility Compliance: Ensured the design met WCAG 2.2 AA standards, making it accessible to all users regardless of background, gender, or ethnicity.
Handover: Prepared and delivered comprehensive documentation, including Figma design files and frontend CSS, to The PEG’s development team for implementation.
Outcomes:
The project successfully delivered a user-centric eSAT prototype that streamlined the assessment process for schools. The refined user journeys and interactive design facilitated seamless interactions for educators. Usability testing ensured the tool was intuitive and met user needs, while adherence to accessibility standards made it inclusive for all users. The comprehensive handover documentation provided clear guidance for the development team, ensuring a smooth transition from design to implementation.
