How I Shot and Edited a Brand Commercial from My Bedroom: The Process Behind It!

This is one of my favorite projects ever, and I'm so excited to share the process, because I recorded the whole thing by myself!

First, I needed an idea. Most energy drink ads show how the drink fits into your everyday life, so that's the direction I went with. I kept the concept simple with just two locations: my desk and my kitchen.

For the desk scene, I placed the camera in a static shot so I could build a timeline of my routine. For the kitchen, I wanted a POV shot, so I put the camera inside the fridge! The other shots were filmed with the camera on a tripod.

Lighting was the tough part. All I had was a 2-pack of LED video lights and my Sony a6400. For the scene at my PC, I lit myself with the two LEDs and let the light from the screen hit my face directly, which gave it that late-night, been-here-for-hours feeling.

In post-production, I wanted dynamic effects that showed the timeline moving forward and me getting more and more tired from sitting there for hours (totally relatable to my everyday routine!)
