A concept motion system exploring how sound and motion can shape a health tech product's emotional first impression.
The Problem
Health tech products often default to clinical, sterile motion language: sharp fades, mechanical transitions, rigid timing. But Care+ is a product about softness, growth, guardianship, and openness. The motion system needs to carry those qualities from the first frame.
Approach
The core question: how do you make someone feel cared for before they read a single word?
I paired sound design with visual motion to build that feeling. The two channels reinforce each other: what you hear sets the emotional expectation, what you see confirms it.
Motion Principles
Two-speed curve system:
Ease-out curves for organic moments (blooming, expanding, breathing). These movements start with energy and settle gently, mimicking natural growth. Used for brand reveals, icon transitions, and background elements.
Snappy curves synced to rhythmic peaks. When the audio hits a beat or accent, the motion responds with quick, precise movement. This contrast keeps the softness from feeling sluggish.
Sound-visual pairing: Every key motion moment has an audio counterpart. The visual rhythm follows the music's emotional arc, not a fixed BPM grid.
Scalability: These principles aren't one-off decisions. The same curve logic and sound-sync approach can extend to onboarding flows, notification animations, loading states, and micro-interactions across the product.
BPM Panel
The heart rate visualization translates a literal health metric into something emotionally resonant: the heartbeat becomes a wave that dances rather than just pulses. The motion timing maps to the audio's rhythm, reinforcing the connection between what users hear and what they see.
