Overview: What is Oraimo?
Oraimo is a subsidiary owned by Transsion Holdings which is a Chinese company that makes devices made for mobile phones and mobile phone accessories. Oraimo makes several products such as power banks, headphones, earbuds, phone chargers, smart wearables, etc. Oraimo has a presence in several countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, USA, etc. Oraimo was launched in the year 2013 according to Oraimo’s website.
What is the Oraimo Sound App?
The Oraimo Sound App is an app made by Oraimo Technologies that allows you to customize your listening experience and preference while using any compatible Oraimo product. Do keep in mind that the only compatible Oraimo products that will work with the app include:
FreePods 4
FreePods 3C
FreePods Lite
Riff 2
SpacePods
BoomPop 2
(This list is according to the app descriptions on both the PlayStore and the App Store)
As Oraimo makes more products, more will be compatible with the app. Make sure you also consult Oraimo’s website to see if other Oraimo products are compatible with the app.
How to use the Oraimo Sound App
In order to use the app make sure you have the following:
An Android or Apple device (Android 6.0 or later and iOS 9.0 or later).
Any supported Oraimo product listed above. Please make sure you buy your Oraimo products from authorized stores/dealers as non authentic Oraimo products will not work with the app.
An internet connection.
First of all, download the Oraimo Sound app from either your Google PlayStore or the App Store. You can click on the links here to download it:
Connect your Oraimo device via Bluetooth to your phone.
Once downloaded, open the app and make sure your internet is still connected. You can sign up if you want to but if you do not want to sign up, you can select visitor mode.
Now click on the “Add Device” option and follow the on screen instructions by opening the lid of your Oraimo product where the earbuds are placed and leaving it close to your phone.
Select your Oraimo product and it will connect to the app and use its features.
Features of the Oraimo Sound App
EQ Options: The app gives you 5 default EQ(Equalizer) presets that change the way you listen to any sound with your Oraimo product. These options include Standard, HeavyBass, Rock, Jazz, and Vocal. The app also gives you the option to create your own EQ presets to match your own taste. The EQ feature works very well with apps such as Spotify, etc.
Game Mode: The app gives you the option to enable game mode that is suitable for gaming.
Touch control customization: The app lets you customize the touch controls to your taste. You have the option to disable the touch controls on your Oraimo products or to make it do something specific such as volume control, pause and play your sounds/audio, change to previous or next song. You can dedicate them to both ears or to only one ear.
You can see the battery percentage of your Oraimo products that you connect with the app.
You can also see the quick start guide or instruction manual of any specific Oraimo product you connect to the app.
You can also submit a help and feedback form for whenever you run into an issue with your Oraimo product.
You can also use the app to update the firmware of your product provided that it supports firmware updates e.g. Freepods 4, SpacePods, etc. The Oraimo FreePods Lite does not support firmware updates.
You also have access to noise cancellation deepening on what Oraimo product that you own e.g. FreePods Pro, SpacePods, FreePods 4, etc. The Oraimo FreePods Lite does not have any noise cancellation built in.
My favorite feature of this app is that if you have different supported Oraimo products, you have access to different features. For example, if you own the Oraimo FreePods Lite, you could change the color of the FreePods Lite icon on the app to any of the 3 actual colors of the product. If you own higher end Oraimo products like the FreePods Pro, FreePods 4, etc, you have access to noise cancellation and firmware updates. If you own the Oraimo SpacePods, you not only have access to noise cancellation but you also have access to an extra EQ option called “Burna Boy'' mode that was tuned by the artist himself to be more suitable for any of his music.
My Problems about the Oraimo Sound App
I dislike the fact I am unable to create a name for any custom EQ preset I create on the app.
I also dislike the fact that if I create a custom EQ preset for one device, and I connect another Oraimo device to the app, I cannot use that custom EQ created for the first device to the other device. I would have to recreate that EQ from scratch with the new device.
You also cannot edit any EQ presets that you create or to edit or modify already existing EQ presets.
I noticed that enabling the EQ feature on the app can affect the sound on some apps. For example, I downloaded CloudMP3 on my iOS device and when I enabled the EQ on the Oraimo Sound app, it distorted the audio of the song I was playing. I had to disable the EQ on the app for it to sound normal again.
I also dislike the fact that if I have connected a previous Oraimo device on the app without unbinding the device and the device gets lost or stolen, I cannot remove that device at all.
This app overall requires an internet connection to use.
Features and Suggestions to Improve the Oraimo Sound App
There should be a feature to import your custom made EQs to other Oraimo products that you connect to your device.
The creation of an EQ marketplace would be interesting to see where users could upload the EQs that they create and other users could download them.
It would be interesting if a light mode is added into the app instead of it always being in dark mode.
The ability to name your EQs and re-customize them should be added.
It would be nice if there were video tutorials baked into the app on how to use it. This would particularly help new users.
I would like it if not every aspect of the app required the use of an internet connection to use.
I would love it if Oraimo made a PC version of the Oraimo Sound app for Windows and MacOS where if you connect it to your PC, you can customize your listening experience easily.
Oraimo should make updates to the app to support more Oraimo products as their support is limited.
It would be cool to see the app work with their Bluetooth speakers and they could have certain features which are only compatible with their speakers.
Conclusion
Overall, the app is user friendly and is easy to use and to understand. There are so many interesting features this app has to make your listening experience much better in my opinion. If you have any supported Oraimo devices. I highly recommend that you download this app to use with your Oraimo devices to use and listen to any audio of your choice.
