Here’s the version I’d actually post. Less polished-for-the-sake-of-polish, more like someone with a point of view wrote it.
I can sell you a brick.
Probably shit, too.
Not because I know some magic sales trick.
Because selling starts way before the sale.
It starts with making something mean something.
The project was a book called W*F Does She Want?
I could’ve done the usual relationship-book thing. Couple looking annoyed. Big quote about communication. Book in the corner. Maybe a red button.
No thanks.
The more interesting thought was this:
You can hear every word she says and still have no idea what she meant.
That was enough.
From there, the ads almost wrote themselves.
A face broken into pieces.
A woman buried inside the word UNDERSTAND.
Two people close enough to kiss, with GET CLOSER between them.
An old phone asking whether “do whatever you want” should be taken literally.
A WhatsApp message turned into an entire dinner-table argument.
None of them look the same.
They don’t need to.
They’re all saying the same thing.
And that’s what I think a lot of brands get backwards.
They ask for 20 creatives.
I’d rather find the one idea that gives us 20 creatives.
Because more ads won’t save a boring thought.
A good thought can make almost anything interesting.
A book.
A jacket.
A bottle of water.
A brick.
Maybe even shit.
That’s the work I like doing.
Finding the thing people will care about, then building the advertising around it.
