Depop: Buyers Onboarding
Depop is a social fashion marketplace app where creatives come together to buy and sell unique items.
During my time at Depop I had the opportunity to work within various teams to help shape the experience for our users. While working on this project, I was a key part of the buyers team.
Summary
The purpose for the buyers on-boarding was to get new users to buy in the first week of signing up on the Depop mobile platform. We’ve created a 4-step on-boarding to personalise the experience and help users find what they love.
Problem statement
The problem we’ve tackled while working on this project was the lack of personalisation for a new user. In the previous experience, when signing up and landing on the explore page, it was difficult for users to relate to the items they see so this was drastically reduced the possibilities of users finding what they are looking for and purchasing right away.
Team
For this project, I was part of the Buyers team together with another product designer, a product manager and iOS, android, QA and backend engineers.
Role
As the lead designer for the project, I ran a design sprint with the aim to identify the potential solution to design and test going forward. I also worked on user research, user experience and user testing. I also assisted the other designer on user interface design. I led the team efforts following all the UX design best practices that I believe are key to any successful project such as design sprint, user research, data analysis, rapid prototyping, A/B testing, learning and optimisation and full rollout.
