Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm on Royal Wives at War, watch a revealing documentary of the abdication crisis of 1936 as Queen Elizabeth and Willis Simpson look back at the events that led to King Edward VIII giving up the throne.  Then at 9pm on Poldark, Ross goes to revolutionary France to search for information about Dwight.  Followed by the series premiere of The Collection at 10pm. 
MONDAY, October 9th
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm watch Antique Roadshow, where part 2 of 3 highlights Marvin Gaye’s 1964 passport.  Then at 9pm, watch another Antique Roadshow, where a signed letter from Charles Schulz includes a drawing of Linus.  Followed by The Country House Revealed at 10pm.    
TUESDAY, October 10 
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm on Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr. Fred Armisen, Christopher Walken, and Carly Simon each discover a grandfather with a mysterious past.  Then at 9pm, watch The Vietnam War: The River Styx (stiks), where hardliners in Hanoi (Ha-noi) seize the initiative and combat troops are sent to the south.  Followed by POV: The Islands and the Whales at 11pm.  
WEDNESDAY, October 11
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm, watch Nature: Fox Tales, where new scientific research offers a fascinating look into the secret life of the red fox.  Then at 9pm, Nova: The Ghosts of Stonehenge, and discover how the last decade of groundbreaking archaeological digs have revealed major new clues to this 5000-year-old site.  Followed by Frontline: War on the EPA at 10pm. 
THURSDAY, October 12
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm watch Michigan Out-of-Doors, followed by Under the Radar Michigan at 8:30pm, where some sweet Middle Eastern treats and a city hall that's all about art are featured in Dearborn.  Then at 9pm, watch part 1 of Jackie Robinson, and how he rose from humble beginnings to joining Major League Baseball.  Followed by Major League Cuban Baseball at 11pm. 
FRIDAY, October 13
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm on Symphony in D, Pulitzer Prize nominated composer Tod Machover travels Detroit asking its citizens to collaborate on a new composition.  Then at 9pm, on Trans-Siberian Orchestra: The Ghosts of Christmas Eve, a caretaker of an abandoned theater magically brings the place to life for a young runaway; performers include Michael Crawford and Jewel.  Followed by Great Performances: Grammy Salute to Music Legends, 2017 at 10:30pm. 
SATURDAY , October 14 
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .  At 8pm, watch Father Brown: The Smallest of Things, where past and present meet when Father Brown investigates the grisly world of dollhouse crime.  Then at 9pm, watch Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries: Murder in Montparnasse (Mont-par-nasse), where the widow of a famous artist arrives, requesting the return of her late husband's paintings.  Followed by Death in Paradise: Until Death Do You Part at 10pm. 
SUNDAY, October 15
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm watch the season two premiere of The Durrells in Corfu, where Louisa’s efforts to get Greeks to pay for English cooking falls flat.  Then at 9pm, catch Poldark, where a failed harvest incites food riots, which George does not handle well.  Followed by The Collection at 10pm. 
MONDAY, October 16
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm watch part 1 of 3 in Antique Roadshow: Baton Rouge, where items include a French 1930s Art Deco diamond and platinum ring.  Then at 9pm, catch part 2 of 3 in Antique Roadshow: Baton Rouge, where items include a Louisiana political poster and three paintings by New Orleans artists William and Ellsworth Woodward.  Followed by The Country House Revealed at 10pm. 
TUESDAY, October 17
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Finding Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates Jr., Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen and William H. Macy trace their nonconformist ancestors through the Civil War and American Revolution.  Then at 9pm, on The Vietnam War: Resolve (January 1966 – June 1967), North Vietnamese troops materiel stream down the Ho Chi Minh (h oh - ch ee - m ee n) Trail into the south, while Saigon (sai-gon) struggles to pacify the countryside. Followed by POV: Motherland at 11pm.

Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Nature: Animal Reunions, human caretakers reunite with wild animals they raised in refuges and orphanages. Then at 9pm, watch Nova: Secrets of the Forbidden City, discover the ingenious engineering of Beijing’s Forbidden City, the power center of imperial China for nearly 500 years. Followed by Frontline: Mosul at 10pm. 
THURSDAY, October 19
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .At 8pm watch Michigan-Out-of-Doors followed by Under the Radar Michigan at 8:30pm, where a company that sends Michigan fruit far and wide, as well as Michigan mammals are featured.  Then at 9pm, watch the conclusion of Jackie Robinson, where Robinson uses his fame to speak out against injustice. Followed by In Their Own Words: Muhammad Ali at 11pm.

Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Cirque Dreams Holidaze, the acclaimed holiday stage extravaganza will feature imaginative costumes, toy soldiers and Santa Clause. Then at 9:30pm, watch Detroit Performs, where former professional dancer, Cornelia Sampson performs with the Detroit ballet; the Purple Rose Theatre excels in bringing new works to life, and the Guadalupe Arts and Culture Center celebrates its Latino roots. Followed by Great Performances: She Loves Me, at 10pm. 
SATURDAY, October 21
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . .At 8pm on Father Brown: The Crimson Feather, Mrs. McCarthy’s god-daughter goes missing and Father Brown follows her trail. Then at 9pm, on Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Miss Fisher investigates when a magazine columnist and author of fairy stories is murdered.  Followed by Death in Paradise: Swimming in Murder at 10pm.

Tonight on Detroit Public Television  . . . At 8pm on The Durrells on Cofu, Louisa has an idea to boost Larry’s writing career, but it doesn’t go as planned.  Then at 9pm on Poldark, Drake joins Ross’ mission after Morwenna breaks with him; meanwhile, George jockeys for a triumph in politics.  Followed by The Collection at 10pm.

Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm watch the conclusion of Antique Roadshow: Baton Rouge, where an early 19th century Louisiana work table, and a Porfirio Salinas oil, circa 1935, worth a significant amount of money, are featured. Then at 9pm, watch part 1 of Antique Roadshow: Kansas City, and discover a 1891 Kansas City Fire Chief presentation badge made by famous jewelers of the time. Followed by The Country House Revealed at 10pm. 
TUESDAY, October 24
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Finding Your Roots with Henry Lewis Gates Jr., author Ta-Nehisi Coates (ta na ‘ha si ‘Kouts), filmmaker Ava DuVernay (dju var ‘nei) and author-activist Janet Mock see their basic assumptions about their families challenged.  Then at 9pm on The Vietnam War: This Is What We Do (July 1967 – December 1967), American casualties and enemy body counts mount as Marines face deadly North Vietnamese ambushes and artillery south of the DMZ. Young II. Then at 9pm, on Nova: Killer Volcanoes, the search for a mysterious volcanic mega-eruption that plunged medieval Earth into a deep freeze is examined. Followed by Frontline: Putin’s Revenge, Part 1 at 10pm.

At 8pm watch Michigan Out-of-Doors followed by Under the Radar Michigan at 8:30pm, where some sweet Middle Eastern treats and a city hall that’s all about art are featured. Then at 9pm, Secrets of the Dead: Graveyard of the Giant Beasts, and discover as scientists attempt to determine what was the apex predator in northern Columbia 58 million years ago. Followed by Live at the Lincoln Center: Falsettos, at 10pm, and watch as a gay man navigates the dynamics of a modern family at the cusp of the AIDS epidemic.

At 8pm on Father Brown: The Lepidopterist’s Companion, Mrs. McCarthy takes over the running of the mobile library, while Father Brown discovers a shocking secret lurking among the bookshelves. Then at 9pm, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Miss Fisher is on hand at an annual flower parade when a young girl’s body washes up on the beach. Followed by Death in Paradise: Episode 6 at 10pm.

At 8pm on Antique Roadshow: Our 50 States, part 1 features hidden treasures from all 50 states, including a 1960 inscribed “To Kill A Mockingbird”.  Then at 9pm, watch another Antique Roadshow, where a hotel stationary, signed by three of the four Beatles that survived a fire, is featured.  Followed by Edgar Allen Poe: American Masters at 10pm
TUESDAY, October 31
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd and John Turturro (tar tuarou), all with immigrant parents, gain a broader understanding of the unique challenges their ancestors faced at home and abroad.  Then at 9pm, watch The Vietnam War: Things Fall Apart (January 1968 – July 1968) and discover what happened on the eve of the Tet holiday, where North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces launched surprise attacks throughout the south.  Followed by Eddie Murphy: The Mark Twain Prize at 10:30pm.

At 8pm, watch Nature: H is for Hawk: A New Chapter, and discover Helen Macdonald’s book “H is for Hawk”, and learn of a grieving daughter who found healing by training Mabel, a goshawk.  Then at 9pm, on Nova: Killer Hurricanes, the Great Hurricane of 1780, which took nine days to blast its way across the Caribbean, is reconstructed in an attempt to learn more about what made it so devastating.  Followed by Frontline: Putin’s Revenge: Part 2 at 10pm.

At 8pm watch Michigan Out-of-Doors, followed by Under the Radar Michigan at 8:30pm, where mammals of Frankfort are featured, as well as a company that sends Michigan fruit far and wide.  Then at 9pm, watch the season 4 finale of Pioneers of Television: Acting Funny, where the techniques of comedic actors, including Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, and Dick Van Dyke are examined.  Followed by Bill Murry: The Mark Twain Prize at 10pm.   
FRIDAY, November 3
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm watch Detroit Performs Live, where at The Fillmore Detroit, Ruben Studdard, as well as local Detroit talent, Ethan Daniel Davidson, and Jill Jack will perform.  Then at 9:30pm, on Brit Floyd: The Words Greatest Pink Floyd Tribute Show, the Pink Floyd Tribute band performs.  Followed by Great Performances: Noel Coward’s Present Laughter at 11pm.  
SATURDAY, November 4
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Father Brown: The Alchemist’s Secret, Father Brown must investigate a 300-year-old secret hidden at a university in order to save an old friend.  Then at 9pm, on Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries: Death by Miss Adventure, a young woman working at a clothing factory is found dead, and Phryne investigates.  Followed by Death in Paradise: She Was Murdered Twice at 10pm.  
SUNDAY December 17
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm, on Last Tango in Halifax Holiday Special: Part 1, Caroline moves her family to a decrepit farmhouse in time for Christmas, while Alan has a difficult conversation with Gillian, convinced she’s haunted by Eddie. Then at 9pm watch Victoria, and discover the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign, as she struggles to assert control over plots to manipulate her, and a crisis in Parliament. Followed by Austin City Limits: Ryan Adams: Shakey Graves at 11pm.

Then at 9pm, watch Human Nature: Jukebox in Concert from the Venetian and experience a playlist of the group’s musical influences, also featuring special guest Darlene Love, a seven-piece Jukebox All-Stars band and world-class dancers. Followed by Eric Idle’s The Entire Universe at 11pm.

At 8pm watch Salute to Vienna and experience one of the most lavish song and dance gala concert specials, hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Maximilian Schell, the world famous mezzo soprano Frederica von Stade, and the Viennese operetta. Followed by Celtic Woman: Homecoming Ireland at 10pm.  
SATURDAY December 30
Tonight on Detroit Public Television . . . At 8pm on Father Brown: The Fire in the Sky, Father Brown must call upon his divine inspiration when Kembleford comes under the attack of an alien invasion. Then at 9pm, on Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries: Murder Most Scandalous, Dot’s sister, Lola, visits and implores Miss Fisher to investigate the murder of a fellow showgirl. Followed by Death in Paradise at 10pm.
