In 2013 I received a project proposal idea from the founder of the Hooptie Ride, van service that was known by their original wrapped up and painted vans with amazing conceptual ideas in each of them. Their service is to pick up students after parties, people after bars and football events in the home town of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA.

When they knew about my campaigning in collaboration with the Live Local movement taking place at the same time that I created the Love Mural artwork, they thought about a new van that would reflect that work.

My husband came up with the name "Localmotion" which the company loved, and my idea of portraying the top restaurants and bars as well as locations where they service the public. They gave me a list and pictures of all their other vans, and there you go!

I took a tour in car through town, took some pictures, created sketches based on them, planned how to locate all the buildings and the vans in a festive and color layout that represented the very wobbly town, filled with hills and more ups and downs.

I wanted to incorporate the mountains in the panoramic and also added the Love Mural in it, which felt so meta! I really love this van. I received so many great comments of how people locally loved seeing it going around and booked it particularly to take pictures as well as when family came to visit.
