KEY VALUES
DASH OBJECTIVE:
DASH is essentially Uber/Lyft for kids. We know how difficult it is to transport children to and
from school and activities when work and other adult responsibilities get in the way. We decided to solve those transportation hiccups in a safe and reliable way! At DASH we strive to transform children’s transportation into something that’s easy for caregivers, easy for kids, and easy for drivers.
Safety, ease of access, and affordability are the key values that we want to share with families.
SAFETY:
DASH is set on providing the safest child transportation service out there. All DASH drivers will go through a thorough background check, provide three references, and have proof of at least five months of direct supervision of children. This can be from being a summer camp counselor, caring for your own children or siblings, babysitting, college classes, daycares, church groups, tutoring, etc.
DASH drivers will get a sign-on bonus of $100 dollars (given after their first three months) if they have a current First Aid/ CPR Certificate or if they become certified within the first three months.
All rides will be filmed by the DASH app and sent to caregivers’ smartphones, so they can watch their children as they ride. Caregivers will also be able to communicate with drivers through the app if they feel like their child is in distress.
Children cannot ride alone until age six.
Children ages six-eleven years old are required to be dropped off to someone who can supervise them (18+).
Drivers are instructed to wait until the child is safe before they drive away.
For example, this means that they must walk with the child to their front door and see an adult on the premises. If the child needs to be signed into a facility such as a school, camp, or activity, caregivers are required to authorize DASH to be able to do such. They will also need to spell out exactly the procedure that they will need to follow and the location where the drivers are supposed to sign the child in or out.
DASH drivers are required to get out of their car to pick up a child. If picking up from a home, they must physically knock on the door, and greet the child. If they are picking up from somewhere where the child needs to be signed out, they must have been authorized to do so by the caregiver. If they are meeting a child from a location where they do not need to be signed out, but is not a home, they are required to meet the child at the location that the caregiver, child, and driver have agreed upon.
Drivers will wait only fifteen minutes for a child to arrive. If the child does not arrive, the caregivers and emergency contact will be notified via phone and app. If a caregiver thinks the child will be late, they should notify the driver. Drivers can wait for a maximum of 45 minutes at the caregiver’s request.
● See the Affordability section (pg. 6) for Late Fee charges
DASH drivers are required to have DASH Employee ID cards on them at all times, as well as their driver’s license to make sign-in and out procedures easier.
DASH cars will also have glow-in-the-dark decals in the window. They will also be wearing a DASH T-shirt.
Children are required to have their photo updated on the DASH app every three months or they are forbidden to book rides.
Caregivers will also be notified to confirm contact information in case of emergency every three months.
Children age twelve and older are allowed to be dropped off somewhere without an adult.
Caregivers must specify exactly where their children are to be dropped off. Drivers are not to
leave until the child has entered the facility or park.
For example, caregivers cannot say, Drop Kate Off At Flatirons Mall. They must say, Drop Kate Off At The Macy’s In Flatirons Mall.
Booster seats are available for children who need them. Children ages 8 and under are required to ride in a booster seat.
There is also a rating system like Uber’s except that drivers need at least a 4.8 out of 5.0 or they are unable to drive with DASH.
First Aid kits are available in all cars. If a child should get hurt, the driver is required to document it through the app. They will send it to the caregiver and DASH headquarters.
Before drivers can start, they must be met by a DASH official and be walked through all procedures.
When a driver agrees to drive a child, the child’s caregivers receive a short biography about the driver.
When the driver picks up the child, the caregivers get a notification telling them that they can watch the ride if they want.
When the child is dropped off, the caregivers get a notification saying that the child has arrived at their destination.
If a caregiver is not present when DASH pulls up to drop off the child, the driver will wait 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the driver will call caregivers and then emergency contacts. After 30 minutes, If no contact can be made, the driver will turn the child over to social services.
If a child twelve or older is locked out of a home or facility, drivers will contact caregivers, the facility if applicable, then emergency contacts. Drivers will wait 30 minutes and if no contact can be made, social services will be notified.
If late caregivers answer and give a specific time they will arrive, drivers can wait up to 45 minutes.
If caregivers cannot be there in 45 minutes they can have the child dropped off at another destination.
● See Affordability section (pg. 6) for Late Fee charges
If a caregiver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the child is dropped off, social services will be notified.
Caregivers will electronically sign paperwork agreeing to these terms and conditions.
Drivers must have a 4-door car that is year 2005 or newer. Drivers must never have smoked in the car. Drivers must be 21 years old or older.
If a child gets sick or is in distress, drivers will pull over and help the child in any way they can. They will then notify caregivers. If caregivers want the child to go to their original destination, the driver will drive them there. If not, the driver will bring them to the destination that the caregiver wants.
If a child misbehaves during the ride, caregivers will be notified via the app.
If the child misbehaves three times in a row, they are banned from DASH for one year. We only count major indiscretions as misbehaving.
Such as:
● Harming the driver, other passengers, or self
● Unbuckling during the ride
● Opening the car door during the ride
● Grabbing the steering wheel during the ride
Drivers are forbidden to let children out of the car unless they are at the destination.
Children must be at least thirteen years old and 4’9” to sit in the front seat of the vehicle.
EASE OF ACCESS:
DASH guarantees that we will not leave caregivers hanging. If we say that we will be there, we will. It’s as easy as that.
Our drivers get a notification on their phones when a child needs a ride close by. They do not need to be logged into the DASH app to be notified. This means that drivers can agree to rides wherever they are and whenever they want.
Caregivers can choose to schedule a DASH beforehand or have a DASH come last minute. We do not allow drivers to back out of rides last minute. If a driver has agreed to drive a child and becomes ill, or their car breaks down, the ride is taken up by the closest available DASH driver.
A trial drive is available for children who are nervous about using DASH. They can meet a driver, and try a ride with/or without a caregiver. They can go around the block or do a practice run to their destination. You can do one trial ride per child. Trial rides are half-price. Rides can have multiple stops and pickups if needed.
AFFORDABILITY:
We strive to be as affordable as possible.
We charge a minimum of $5 dollars per ride to fairly reimburse our drivers.
Ride Charges:
Base Fair =$1
Cost Per Minute = $ 0.50
Cost Per Mile = $1
Booking Fee = $2
Trial Ride Charges:
Base Fair = $0.50
Cost Per Minute = $0.25
Cost Per Mile = $0.50
Booking Fee = $1
Minimum trial ride cost is $2.50
Drivers receive full fair when doing trial rides
Late Fees:
Child does not show up after 15 minutes = $5 No Show Fee
Child shows up between 16 and 45 minutes = $5 + $0.50 per minute after fifteen minutes + ride
Child does not show up after 45 minutes = $20
DASH drivers will only wait for children for more than 15 minutes at the caregiver’s request.
Caregiver does not show up after 15 minutes = $8 + Ride
Caregiver shows up between 16-45 minutes = $8 + $0.50 per minute after fifteen minutes + ride
DASH drivers will only wait for caregivers more than 15 minutes if caregivers say they are on the way.
New destination = original ride fee + $4 + new ride fee
DASH drivers will only go to a new destination at the caregiver’s request if they cannot arrive on time.
Social Services are notified for any reason = $10
If a DASH driver arrives late to pick up a child from an activity and caregivers are wrongly billed a late fee then we will reimburse them for the late fee if they email us a copy of the bill.

We love it when our families tip our drivers! They get to keep 100% of it!
