Harm in the Water — Landing Page Designed and Build with Framer
Project Type: Landing Page Design & Development
Goal: Drive ticket sales and engage audiences through a cinematic storytelling experience
Overview
This landing page was created to promote the premiere screening of the documentary film Harm in the Water, which explores the impact of water pollution on Black communities along the Mississippi River. The primary objective was to build anticipation for the film and convert visitors into ticket buyers for the festival premiere.
Design Rationale
The client wanted a site that felt cinematic, immersive, and emotionally engaging. Something that would reflect the weight and depth of the film’s subject matter.
To achieve this, I designed a narrative-driven layout that mirrors a documentary viewing experience:
Large hero imagery with atmospheric typography to set the emotional tone.
Video embed section placed early on to immerse visitors in the story.
Sequential storytelling flow using stacked visuals and minimal copy to lead users down the page.
Soft color palette with dark green tones to echo natural landscapes and water themes.
Smooth scroll animations to create a cinematic pacing, guiding the viewer through each chapter of the page.
Style & Visual Direction
Cinematography aesthetic: full-width photography, sunset lighting, and warm natural tones.
Minimal typography: clear, modern sans-serif fonts to keep the focus on visuals.
Editorial structure: inspired by documentary title sequences and film festival websites.
Result
The final landing page told the film’s story before viewers ever hit “play.” It gave the event a sense of significance and urgency, making it easy for visitors to emotionally connect with the film and purchase tickets.
Immersive, cinematic landing page built in Framer to promote a documentary premiere—using storytelling and visuals to drive ticket sales and engagement.
