The Brief

The 9th National Equip Conference on Ministry to Children & Teens needed a promo video that could capture the energy and purpose of the event while driving registrations. The challenge: make it feel cinematic and intentional, not like a typical church conference ad.

The Video

The Approach

I pulled from multiple editing disciplines to build something that felt layered and premium. The final piece blends SaaS-style pacing (tight cuts, clean typography, structured information hierarchy) with documentary-style texture (natural footage treatment, atmospheric grading, and narrative rhythm).
One of the standout techniques was the Gobo effect, where I digitally simulated shadow patterns to add depth and visual interest to flat shots. This gave scenes a natural, almost theatrical lighting quality without requiring any additional on-set setup.

The Execution

Every frame was built with retention in mind. I structured the edit so each section escalated in energy, pulling the viewer through the message rather than letting them passively watch. Sound design played a key role here, with layered audio cues reinforcing transitions and keeping the pacing tight.
The entire project was produced in After Effects for motion graphics and compositing, Premiere Pro for the editorial cut, and Photoshop for asset preparation and texture work.

The Result

A promo video that matched the scale and significance of a national conference, built by combining techniques most editors keep in separate boxes. SaaS precision meets documentary soul.
