This is pitch three of my Pitch Dash series I’ve been chronicling on TikTok. This time around I have created a mini deck for an unapologetically romantic web series! This is Ghostwriter:
Ghostwriter is a sharp, romantic comedy with a twist of suspense, following the tangled lives of a successful ghostwriter and her love-struck editor, both working for the enigmatic and famous author, Marcella Winters.
Shay, a talented and secretive ghostwriter, has spent years channeling her unrequited love for Marcella into the fictional romance series Evil Persuasions, particularly through the protagonist, Lady Heather’s love for an older woman of high society, Lady Iris. Meanwhile, Leo, Marcella’s editor, is infatuated with Lady Iris’s on-page exploits—unbeknownst to him, Shay is the real author behind the twisting romance. The two worlds collide when Shay and Leo meet in person at a gathering for Marcella, leading to a chaotic love triangle fueled by jealousy.
As the series progresses, Shay and Leo find themselves competing for Marcella's affection, but their professional relationship becomes even more complicated when they’re forced to collaborate on the final chapters of Evil Persuasions. The tension rises as Shay writes and rewrites the ending to the romance between Lady Heather, Lady Iris and Duke Leopold (a character who resembles Leo in many ways). In a surprising twist, Marcella reveals that she’s been manipulating both of them, forcing them to confront their unspoken passions and deepest insecurities. The series crescendos to a suspenseful cliffhanger as Marcella locks Shay and Leo in her office, trapping them in a real-life game of Evil Persuasions.
With a perfect blend of humor, mystery, and heartfelt moments, Ghostwriter explores themes of love, identity, and the complex power dynamics between creator and creation. The series keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, with witty dialogue and suspenseful plot twists, leaving them eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the characters’ lives—and in the story.
When I began creating the deck I leaned into a 1980s-airport-paperback-romance design. But it just wasn’t working, so I dialed it back.  I truly love the simplicity of torn pages, crisp production stills, and faded ink. I think it blends the POVs of the reader and the book characters perfectly!
Also, I sometimes source photos from Pexels, a free stock image site--you should totally check it out!
Now to figure out my 4th deck…Wish me luck!
