What is Keep Girls in Sport?

Keep Girls in Sport is a digital educational platform created by adidas and Up2Us Sports to help coaches, mentors, and role models better support girls participating in sports. The platform provides an interactive curriculum covering relationships, supportive team culture, mental well-being, life skills, and long-term participation in sports.

What did I do at Keep Girls in Sport?

Role: UI/UX Engineer
Figma, Wireframing, Prototyping, User Flows, Interaction Design, Responsive Design, Design Systems, Accessibility, Usability Testing

Task

The goal was to create an engaging and easy-to-use digital learning experience that allowed coaches and mentors to navigate a large amount of educational content without feeling overwhelmed.
The platform needed to organize multiple lessons and subsections while maintaining clear navigation, strong visual hierarchy, responsive behavior, and an engaging experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Solution

I worked on the end-to-end UI/UX experience, transforming the curriculum into a structured and interactive digital learning platform.
I designed user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for key experiences including curriculum navigation, lesson introductions, educational content, interactive sections, resources, and lesson progression.
I focused heavily on information architecture because the platform contains multiple lessons with many individual topics. I created a clear navigation structure that allowed users to understand where they were in the curriculum and quickly move between lessons and subsections.
I designed responsive layouts and reusable UI components to maintain a consistent experience across different screen sizes. This included navigation elements, lesson headers, content sections, buttons, progress indicators, cards, typography, imagery, and interactive states.
I also improved readability by creating clear visual hierarchy, appropriate spacing, content grouping, and typography patterns for long-form educational material.
Accessibility was an important part of the design process, so I considered readable typography, sufficient contrast, clear interactive states, keyboard-friendly navigation, and responsive touch targets.
Interactive prototypes were used to validate navigation and lesson flows before implementation, and I collaborated closely with developers to ensure the final product accurately reflected the intended experience.

Challenges & Solutions

1. Complex Educational Content Challenge: The curriculum contained many lessons, sections, and educational topics. Solution: Created a clear information architecture and hierarchical navigation system that made the content easier to explore.
2. Long-Form Content Challenge: Large amounts of educational information could become difficult to read and overwhelming. Solution: Improved typography, spacing, content grouping, imagery, and visual hierarchy to create a more engaging learning experience.
3. Responsive Experience Challenge: The curriculum needed to remain easy to navigate across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Solution: Designed responsive layouts and reusable components that adapted naturally to different screen sizes.
4. UI Consistency Challenge: Maintaining a consistent experience across numerous lessons and content types. Solution: Established reusable design patterns and components for navigation, lesson content, buttons, cards, typography, and interaction states.
This project demonstrated my ability to combine UI/UX design, information architecture, responsive design, accessibility, interaction design, prototyping, and developer collaboration to build an engaging and scalable digital learning experience.
