Why the Redesign ?

Well I use Instagram a lot for stuff like design inspirations, creative reels & photography tutorials. It's been soo long that Instagram has updated it's UI and we are still using the same interface which is to be honest quite boring for an app like Instagram.
So I applied some UX research and UI practices to redesign the app and make it more accustomed to 2021 UI trends.

Research and changes

First and foremost the stories section - I think the layout of the stories must be revamped because most of the people would prefer just to have a glance at what the other person has posted in their story so that they can access the right content easily.
Replacing the Instagram title to a more personalized welcoming message, makes the overall app more down-home and inviting.
Curved rectangles for posts and profile pictures to make the app more user-friendly as the UX states that curved corners are perceived more friendly as compared to sharper corners.
Completely revamped the User Profile section to make more sense of having a profile picture and introduced more ease of use. A large rectangular profile picture is much better as people can actually see your display picture (dp) better. The stats section (posts, following, followers) has also been put as an overlay on the picture to improve hierarchy.
Bigger, distinguishable and touchable edit profile and insights button to improve ease of user for the user.
Other minor changes that are visible in the redesign.
