HOLD is a contemporary lounge seating concept designed for an undisclosed luxury retail environment. The brief called for furniture that becomes part of the customer experience rather than simply serving a functional purpose. The design balances architectural structure with tactile comfort through restrained proportions, honest materiality, and visible craftsmanship.

Luxury boutiques carefully curate every aspect of the customer journey, yet seating is often overlooked or treated as a purely functional object. The objective was to design a chair that integrates into refined retail environments without competing with the displayed products: a sculptural piece that enhances the atmosphere while providing comfort during short moments of waiting, conversation, or reflection.

The design is built around the idea that luxury is expressed through simplicity, thoughtful proportions, and honest construction. A continuous tubular steel frame gently surrounds a soft upholstered form, creating a dialogue between rigid structure and inviting comfort. Every structural element contributes to the chair's identity, allowing function and aesthetics to coexist naturally.

The form is composed of simple geometric volumes that create a recognizable, timeless silhouette. A softly tapered cylindrical seat provides generous volume while maintaining visual lightness. A suspended cylindrical backrest offers gentle ergonomic support without enclosing the user. The continuous steel frame wraps around the seating volume, connecting every element into a single architectural composition.

Upholstery: Soft grey bouclé fabric for depth and tactility

Frame: Matte black powder-coated tubular steel

Accents: Deep red anodized aluminum connectors that celebrate the structural joints rather than hiding them
