When I joined the project with Monte Alegre Association, I quickly realized I wasn’t just designing a website, I was crafting a digital voice for a mission-driven organization.

Based in Portugal’s Litoral Alentejo, the association is deeply committed to environmental protection, rural development, and empowering vulnerable populations. But their digital presence didn’t reflect the heart and depth of their work.

They needed a platform that would educate, inspire, and mobilize, and I was determined to make every pixel count.

Our goal was to create a website that felt alive with purpose, one that captured the essence of rural Portugal, reflected the organization's values, and moved people to act.

I started by diving into the mission, audience, and aspirations of Monte Alegre:

Who visits this site? Stakeholders, partners, volunteers, and donors.

What do they seek? Clarity, trust, and a reason to believe.

What should they feel? Inspired, informed, and invited to join the mission.

With empathy and purpose at the core, I built a clean, warm, and human-centered interface. Here’s how:

Visual Storytelling: I used soft earth tones and natural imagery to reflect rural life and the environment.

Intuitive UX: Visitors can easily understand the mission, explore ongoing projects, and find ways to get involved.

Responsive Design: Whether on a desktop in Lisbon or a phone in a remote village, the site performs with elegance and clarity across devices.

As a UI/UX designer, my job goes beyond aesthetics. I create experiences that connect emotionally and functionally.

Today, the Monte Alegre website is more than a digital brochure, it’s a living platform that reflects the association’s mission and welcomes users into a growing movement for social and environmental change.
