"SHOULDS" VS. "NEEDS"

Asia Prieto

A huge part of growing in any arena of life is learning how to differentiate between "needs" and "wants". Sometimes the struggle to learn the difference leads one to fall into the messy grey area of "shoulds". Today I want to talk about those “shoulds” we all feel from time to time.
“I should exercise more.”
“I should be further in my career.”
“I should have reached my goal by now.”
When we spend time focused on the “should”, it’s not uncommon to feel a rise in shame and self-doubt when those "shoulds" aren’t achieved and feel out of reach. Instead, if we removed those shoulds altogether and focused more on our needs? Reflecting on our needs helps us focus on what feels most important to us individually, not what we feel we should be doing in comparison to others. Maybe the only “should” in our life is that we SHOULD focus on is what we NEED.
⭐Today challenge yourself to dig a little deep and reflect on how you can ditch the “shoulds” in your life to make more room for what you need.
