Role: Motion design, narrative structure, sound design
Tool: After Effects
The problem
Catapillar is an AI creative studio text prompt in, characters and scenes out. The hard part of launching a tool like this isn't showing the interface. It's making an abstract capability feel inevitable in under 60 seconds.
The approach
The video runs on a single narrative spine: chaos → intent → control → output.
0–4s — Ungoverned AI imagery drifts in loose grids. Category context, no product yet.
9s — The identity mark resolves into a brain glyph. One frame, one thesis: this is where generation gets a mind.
13s — Cut hard to a prompt field, mid-typing. Scale drop from wide-world to single-input is the emotional hinge of the piece.
18s — The full studio reveals — 3D stage, character panel, variant strip. The girl with the red balloon renders on grid: proof, not promise.
25–40s — Workspace and gallery. Depth of the tool without a feature list.
44–48s — "Start creating," then the mark under a rainbow. Ends on aspiration, not specification.
Craft decisions
Depth was built with parented nulls and Classic 3D rather than flat comps, so windows, cards and panels move as one physical space — the camera travels, the UI doesn't just cut. Layered sound design (whooshes, UI clicks, sci-fi accents) carries transitions that visuals alone couldn't sell. Restraint on type: SF Pro throughout, product-native rather than motion-graphic.
Outcome
A launch film that reads as a product demo and a brand statement at once — no voiceover required to explain what Catapillar does.
