The Desire for Elsewhere is an enchanting book of travels and intimacy written by Agnes Chew. It has a distinctive writing structure, which is based on a museum visit. To represent its literature format to a visual one as accurately as possible, ergodic literature is used as the concept of the redesigned book. The book consists of several objects each representing an element of a museum visit, and they are composed of different parts of the story.The three parts of the book represent three wing of the museum, and the 27 stories of the book represents 27 artefacts that are showcased at their respective wing:PART 1, NOSTALGIA. Its essence lies in the past, and the stories told heavily reference the past; of lost times and missed opportunities;PART 2: PARALLEL PLANETS.An ode to the present, its stories are full of possibilities and decisions of made choices;AND PART 3: THE VAST UNKNOWN.It looks ahead, its stories told as aspirations and hopes for the future.
