I completed a 4,000-word literature review that explored the applications of Generative AI in both accounting practices and post-secondary accounting education. The review categorized AI’s impact across several dimensions: (a) leveraging reasoning capabilities of LLMs directly in accounting tasks, (b) using LLMs to write code and analyze datasets for indirect support in accounting, (c) creating interactive AI-driven software artifacts to enhance accounting workflows, and (d) employing LLMs' API integration abilities to improve tool usage in accounting tasks. This project required thorough research, synthesis of academic and industry sources, and clear categorization of AI use cases in accounting.
