The Goal:
Parents usually search for activities across WhatsApp groups, Instagram accounts and outdated websites. Information is scattered, schedules are unclear and there are no reliable filters by age, distance or availability. As a result, finding a plan often becomes stressful and time-consuming — especially when parents need quick answers. “I just want to know what I can do today at 5pm near home.”
The process (Analysis + UX Thinking)
To understand the problem better, I conducted user research with parents of young children: 12 qualitative interviews 63 survey responses Context observation in parks and play centers From this research, clear patterns emerged: parents have little time, rely heavily on mobile devices and need clarity and trust to make fast decisions. Key insights included the importance of speed, age-based filtering and real photos to build confidence.
The Solution
PlayFinder was designed as a native mobile app, optimized for one-hand use and fast decision-making. The experience focuses on: Age-based recommendations Location awareness Real schedules and availability Clear calls to action A short onboarding personalizes the experience from the start, while the Home screen highlights the best nearby option first, followed by additional suggestions. A calendar view helps parents plan their week and reduce mental load
