A Sustainable Brew Born from Bread.

BRIEF
EAST Hong Kong partnered with local brewery to create Bao Beer — a sustainable craft lager brewed with surplus in-house bread. Named after the Cantonese word “Bao” for “bread,” Bao Beer transforms food waste into flavour, offering a fuller body and rich, malty profile that sets it apart from typical lagers.
APPROACH
The Bao Beer identity draws from the soft, sculptural curves of bao buns and the effervescent texture of beer bubbles. The custom wordmark blends playfulness with craft, mirroring the brand’s essence — warm, bold, and circular by nature. It’s a visual homage to fermentation, transformation, and giving waste a second life.
