DEAD EVEN: an anime opening with no video model (Concept)

This anime opening has zero frames of video in it.

DEAD EVEN is a concept piece, not client work. ONYX, JADE and the contract between them are made up. Two assassins, one job, and neither one is losing. It's cut to a song called Moving On.

No video model and no animation software. Every shot starts as a still image, and code moves it. Rain falls, the fountain runs, steam rises and the neon flickers while the drawing itself holds still. Walks and hits come from sprite sheets, a few drawings on one page played back in order. The cuts follow a beat map of the song.

Most of the work was checking it frame by frame. Building textures that crawled between drawings got locked back to the original art. One kick frame had an extra leg hiding under JADE's, so it got repaired and every other full-body shot got checked again.

The phone version is reframed shot by shot. Two-person shots become split screens on a slanted manga divider, and the ink duel turns into a vertical manga page.
