Editing a Remote-Recorded Dating & Healing Podcast

From Raw Remote Recording to Retention-Ready Episode

A relationships podcast brought me a long, emotionally layered conversation with a dating expert on grief, breakups, and the courage to begin again. It had been recorded remotely, which meant uneven levels, background noise, and two voices that sounded as though they belonged to different rooms.
My approach was to let the conversation breathe while making it feel effortless to listen to. I cleaned the audio and shaped both voices with EQ and compression until they sat together as if recorded in one studio. I removed filler and dead air, yet preserved the pauses around the most vulnerable moments, since in a conversation about healing, silence carries meaning. The episode opens on its strongest idea, that time alone does not heal wounds without active emotional work, so a listener knows within seconds why it deserves their attention.
Beyond the episode itself, I drew out its most shareable ideas, including the "dating dial" and the practice of listening to one's intuition, and shaped them into short vertical reels. A custom thumbnail and a search-optimized title, description, and tags completed the package.
The result is an episode that sounds studio-grade, holds attention from the first moment, and gives the show momentum between releases.
