Replay 2023 is JioHotstar’s personalised year-in-review experience - a one-of-a-kind journey tailored uniquely for each user. It weaves together a series of engaging, interactive stories based on your individual viewing behaviour throughout the year. Whether you binge-watched thrillers, followed every cricket match, or revisited your favourite sitcoms, Replay 2023 reflects your entertainment journey in a visually rich, immersive format.
Each story is dynamic and distinct, celebrating your tastes, habits, and memorable moments on the platform. From most-watched genres to iconic scenes you replayed again and again, it turns your viewing data into share-worthy content.
The experience is designed to be fun, surprising, and socially engaging - allowing you to share your Replay stories with friends or post them directly on platforms like Instagram and X. With Replay 2023, reliving your year in entertainment becomes a celebration of what made your screen time special.

Business Goal:

To increase user engagement, brand affinity, and social reach for JioHotstar by transforming individual viewing data into an interactive, shareable year-in-review experience. Replay 2023 aims to deepen emotional connection with the platform, encourage repeat usage, and drive organic growth through user-generated content, while showcasing JioHotstar’s capability to deliver personalised, data-driven storytelling at scale.

Branding Explorations:

Here are some of our branding and logo explorations. We explored a range of directions - some aligned closely with Hotstar’s existing brand, while others took a more premium, out-of-the-box approach.
After exploring a wide range of creative directions, we chose to move forward with this branding as shown below because it strikes the right balance between familiarity and freshness. Its visual tone feels closer to Hotstar’s branding, making it instantly relatable, while the refined, vertical proportions of the typography add a sense of confidence and presence. We infused subtle playful elements to keep it approachable—ensuring it feels both premium and full of personality.

Stories Design:

Our approach was to craft each story with its own captivating narrative, pairing it with a distinct visual style that brought its personality to life.
As you can see here, users get personalised stories - ranging from highlights about their favourite cricket player to insights on the top three movie genres they’ve enjoyed over the past year - all based on their viewing preferences, and shareable as many times as they like across social media.

Social Media Creatives

To launch our all-new Replay 2023 feature, we designed a wide range of engaging social media creatives aimed at building excitement and sparking conversations. At the heart of our campaign was the tagline: 'You pressed play, we made history. & now it’s time to hit Replay.' It celebrated every moment our users spent with us throughout the year, transforming their viewing habits into a personalised, share-worthy journey they could relive and enjoy all over again.

Impact

Replay 2023 delivered an unprecedented scale of engagement, generating 200+ total views, captivating 50M+ unique viewers, and driving over 2M+ social shares across platforms. The experience not only celebrated each user’s unique entertainment journey but also sparked widespread organic conversations, turning Replay into a nationwide cultural moment. This surge in participation and virality significantly amplified JioHotstar’s reach, strengthened brand recall, and deepened emotional connection with audiences - reinforcing the platform’s position as a leader in personalised, data-driven storytelling.
