Challenge: A direct-to-consumer mattress and cushion company aimed to launch new product lines targeting luxury mattress consumers. Historically relying on search to drive brand traffic and sales, the company wanted to maximize shopping performance for this launch. Shopping was an under leveraged channel, requiring clear and reliable education and testing to elevate its shopping practices.
Approach: I built and proposed a viable A/B experiment plan to assess incremental efficiency between standard and AI-powered shopping solutions. Careful review and QA of the test ensured absolute parity between the standard and advanced ad campaigns, including budgets, tROAS targets, SKU sets, and promotional schedules. Partnering with a leading media agency, I worked with the company to implement the proposal, resulting in a test on SKUs in the “Best Sellers” category to achieve statistically significant learnings.
Impact: The advanced ad strategy significantly drove incremental efficiencies across all core conversion metrics:
91% increase in ROAS
1,107% increase in conversion value
Test results quickly reached statistical significance and proved so efficient that the company immediately began transitioning all remaining shopping categories to the advanced strategy.
