Charles Sweeny – Smart Contract & Equipment Billing

Charles Sweeny needed a smarter way to manage equipment-based contracts and billing without relying on manual calculations or disconnected financial workflows.

I developed a smart contract and equipment billing solution integrated directly with Odoo’s invoicing and accounting ecosystem. The system connects each contract to its serial-numbered equipment and meters, allowing billing to be automatically calculated based on the configured commercial terms.

The solution supports prepaid, postpaid, and leasing models, while handling recurring and one-time charges, minimum billing thresholds, and flexible billing cycles. Equipment usage and contract data flow seamlessly into Odoo’s invoicing and accounting processes, reducing manual intervention and keeping financial records aligned with operational activity.

To give the business better visibility, I also implemented profitability reporting at both equipment and contract levels, enabling the team to understand revenue, costs, and overall contract performance from a centralized system.

The result was a scalable billing workflow that brought contracts, equipment, usage, invoicing, accounting, and profitability analysis together within one automated Odoo environment.
