PayPro is a modern payroll web application concept designed to help HR teams and business owners manage employee records and run payroll in a clear, structured, and efficient way.
Payroll tools are often overwhelming due to heavy data tables, unclear workflows, and poor information hierarchy. With Payro, my goal was to simplify payroll management by designing interfaces that feel clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate.
The Problem
Many payroll systems create friction for users because:
Employee records are hard to manage at scale
Payroll activities feel cluttered and difficult to track
Key payroll insights (net salary, deductions, pending approvals) are not visible at a glance
Users spend too much time switching between pages to complete basic tasks
The Goal
Design a payroll experience that enables users to:
Quickly understand payroll status and key metrics
Manage employees efficiently with filtering and structured tables
Track payroll activities clearly during payruns
Reduce cognitive load through clean layouts and consistent components
Dashboard Screen
The dashboard provides a quick overview of payroll operations by showing the total number of employees, the monthly payroll amount, the next payroll date, pending approvals, a payroll summary chart with salary breakdown, and a payrun list with announcements and reminders such as tax filing and pension contributions.
Employee Management Screen
The Employee Management screen helps users manage employee payroll information by displaying total, active, and inactive employee counts, providing search and filter options (such as department, designation, status, and date), and presenting a structured employee list with key details like role, employment type, salary, and current status.
Why this matters:
It makes it easy for HR teams to organize employee records, track employee status, and quickly find the right information when preparing for payroll.
Payrun ( Payroll Management ) Screen
The Payrun screen allows users to monitor payroll activities by summarizing key payroll metrics such as total employees, total net salary, and total deductions, while also displaying a detailed payroll activity table showing each employee’s deduction, net salary, and payment status, with options to filter by date and export payroll records.
Why this matters:
It helps teams track payroll progress, identify pending payments, and keep payroll records organized for reporting and auditing.
Key Takeaway
Designing PayPro helped reinforce the importance of building data-heavy products with strong hierarchy, clear structure, and workflows that reduce mental load for users.
