As Delhi was the center of attention in the 12th century many people came there and many languages gave birth to Urdu. So, Delhi is known to be the birthplace of Urdu. Urdu is a Turkish word and its script is similar to Arabic and Persian. As well as, the vocabulary of Urdu comes from 3 different main languages Sanskrit, Arabic, and, Persian. In the beginning, the Urdu language was given many names like Hindi, Hindwi, dehlwi, Rekha, and more. From the 12th century till the 17th century, Urdu did not get much attention and was known as the language of poetry and literature. But, in the 18th century,y things took an interesting turn and Mughals started using Urdu as their official language. The reason behind this is told that Urdu was similar to Farsi and it was sweet, beautiful, and subconsciously attractive to listeners. Now in the 18th century, many people started using Urdu and officials loved to use Urdu because of its wonderful phonetics. It is said that Urdu is grown in the care of Poets which makes it more attractive and beautiful.
