Shogun is a Japanese style, teppanyaki restaurant located in Naperville, Illinois. In March 2024, Google announced that they were discontinuing Google Sites which is what Shogun's previous website was. Because of this, it was both an opportunity, but also a need to find a way to create a new website. Thus, this project came about!
Design & Development
The design is a direct reflection of what the interior of their restaurant is. Inside, they have Polaroids of happy customers covering their ENTIRE wall from top to bottom. When you walk in, lights are dim and you are instantly transported to Japan with Sakura trees, samurai figures, and koi fish. With that in mind, I decided to go with a strict grid format and display any images as Polaroids. When users visit the website then go to the restaurant, it should feel like an instant connection to match the vibe.

Functionality
One of the goals of the website is to create a clear Call-to-Action for users to call and reserve their spots. On both mobile and desktop, there is always a button at the top that sticks for users to call.
Another goal is that because the restaurant does not have physical copies of their menus, they needed a clear Menu page that lists their items and can change easily. Following the grid format, the Menu page is split into two columns (and one column on mobile) with a touch of Polaroid images, Sakura flowers, and kois. Because their menu can be quite long, there is a "Bookmarks" section in the beginning that will redirect users to that particular section.
