About
At Aspen Theory, I helped design Making the Invisible, Visible, a mental health guide and journal created by Inside & Out, a wellness brand focused on supporting whole-body healing, especially for women. The journal is designed to help readers declutter their mental load, reframe negative self-talk, and reconnect with their inner power.
This was the largest project I’ve worked on so far, and it pushed me to grow not just as a designer, but also in how I organize and prioritize long-term creative work. I worked closely with our creative director, Kirsten, to bring the journal to life, from the early layout stages to final delivery.
Design Challenges & Solutions:
1. Designing for structure and emotional clarity The journal needed to guide users through complex inner work while feeling approachable and calming. I focused on helping create clean, balanced layouts that supported readability and emotional ease. This included designing chapter pages and user-friendly prompt sections that didn’t feel overwhelming.
2. Visual consistency across 100+ pages With so many sections and moving parts, maintaining a cohesive visual system was key. I helped align spreads across sections and maintained unified visual consistency from start to finish.
3. Translating client feedback into intentional edits The client had a strong vision and provided thoughtful feedback throughout the process. I helped translate this feedback into design changes that kept the journal aligned with Inside & Out’s brand voice while also making sure the layout stayed functional and engaging.
Tasks I assisted with include:
Page layout and chapter dividers
Back cover design
Creating charts and fill-in prompt pages
Designing with consistency across spreads
Implementing rounds of client feedback
We collaborated in InDesign and ClickUp to make sure we were on the same page throughout the process. This project was a creatively fulfilling and personally meaningful project that reminded me why I’m passionate about thoughtful, purpose-driven design.
