The Problem
As years go by, cryptocurrency has maintained the outlook of inaccessibility due to overwhelming apps and learning articles filled with crypto-jargons making it difficult to learn and hard to navigate.
The Solution
A cryptocurrency exchange app that is a convenient choice for cryptocurrency newcomers and also a great choice for trading crypto. An app with an engaging, easy to use and highly intuitive design.
We said Lets make cryptocurrency less intimidating and more accessible to beginners. My team had clearly defined goals for CoinNest and in order to achieve these goals, user research was essential to gather valuable data and feedback.
Some of our main design goals were:
Easy navigation
A proper integration for easy deposit and withdrawal.
A training platform without all the ambiguous jargons for beginners to be properly introduced into the world of cryptocurrency.
The design process
Our design process was broken down into four stages: Discover, Define, Ideate and design.
Discover stage
This was divided into four sub stages:
After receiving the creative brief, we conducted a stakeholder interview in order to have a clearer idea about the scope of the project.
In order to learn about the current market of cryptocurrency exchange apps, we analyzed direct and indirect competitors, we narrowed it down to five competitors: Binance, Quidax, Buycoins, Kucoin and Coinbase.
When the discover, define and ideate stages were completed, we advanced to the design stage. We created a mood board for our project after finalizing the important features. Subsequently, we designed our low fidelity wireframes.
Final thoughts
This project was a challenging but exciting experience for me. It took a lot of effort from each individual to make it work. We all had different skills and strongpoints so we found a way to leverage that. My ability to collaborate and communicate effectively was improved significantly. During the course of this project, I realized that user research is of utmost importance as it impacts and guides the user interface design.
